MacWester Wight 'Starshine' For Sale
£18,250 Starshine of Runswick is a MacWester Wight Class Ketch designed by C S Roy and built in 1973 by MacWester Marine. She is believed to be the first of the MkII Wight class ketches, and was built for a Colonel Phillips. She was launched in March 1973 by the then Duke of Norfolk. Principal dimensions are: 31'9" x 28' x 9'5" x 3'3" 'Starshine' has spent much of her life on a swinging, drying mooring at Brancaster Staithe. She was craned out in October 2006, and lowloaded to my home village. Due to pressures of work and extension building, she was not relaunced until 23rd May 2008. During the 20 months or so she was ashore, 'Starshine' has undergone a program of refurbishment, principally to the engine, which was craned out, and overhauled to include the following: Cylinder Head reconditioned by Ivor Searle Ltd of Soham. The engine overhaul included: New Piston Rings New Glow Plugs New Fuel Injectors Overhaul and refurbishment of fuel pump. Replacement Alternator Hoses & gaskets were replaced where appropriate. New Cutlass Bearing fitted to prop shaft. Spin on kits were fitted for the oil & fuel filters in previous years to enable easier replacement / changes. Sails were all replaced in March 2001 and supplied by Jeckells of Wroxham. Sails with the boat are as follows: 1x Standard Batten mainsail in 8oz Dacron 1x Mizzen in 8oz Dacron 1x Reefing genoa bi-radial cut in 8oz Dacron with sacrificial u/v protective strip. 1x Spinnaker (with pole) Rotostay Roller Reefing to Genoa Corus electronics to include Depth / Speed / GPS Raymarine wheelpilot CQR Anchor & chain Simrad VHF Radio Neptune 2 burner gas cooker, with separate oven + grill Pressurised hot water.
