Newsletter - March 2008
Dear Juniors, I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year and has started gearing up ready for the new season. Hopefully this year will be a less foggy start to the junior series racing and not too cold. Sadly the weather over Easter meant we couldn’t get on the water. I hope to see as many juniors and beginners as possible out on the water at the first junior series meeting and on our coaching day on 12th April, when it should be slightly warmer. But can I please remind everyone to dress up warmly and be responsible on and off the water. This year I hope the helpfulness of the older juniors carry’s on and gets even better and everyone more involved. Joe and I will be helping as much as we can with trailers, launching and recovery of boats (and juniors ¬¬¬- not too many I hope!) But could all juniors make sure to be generally helpful at all times. Also it would be very good to have lots of encouragement for juniors that haven’t been racing to come and get involved, to see how fun and exciting it is. I hope that with the race training days that the newer members will benefit from the instruction and that the more experienced sailors will improve their tactics. This should mean that we will have some good, close races with strong in-club competition, all leading to a very interesting and enjoyable season. Steve Arrowsmith is our chairperson again this year and is responsible for the programme, results and so on. Please get in touch with him or me if you have any questions or have parents and friends able to help out with safety boats or tows. Also, this year we are going to try and do as much of our correspondence as we can by email and through the BSSC Forum – follow the link at www.bssc.net where you will find updates to the programme, results and book in for races etc. Please use it. We will also soon be sending out an email to people whose address we have so that we can check they are correct. Charles Tyler Junior Fleet Captain
